Dog 1: Puppy & Beginner Obedience (AKC STAR Puppy)
This 6-week class is a great foundation for lifelong learning, whether you're starting with a young puppy or an older dog who's new to training. Despite the name, Dog 1 is open to dogs of any age. We'll cover common challenges like nipping, jumping, chewing, digging, barking, and house training.
Your pup will begin learning core obedience cues like:
- Sit
- Down
- Stay
- Leave It
- Come when called
We'll also practice leash manners and polite greetings in a structured environment that builds confidence and social skills. Graduates may earn their AKC STAR Puppy ribbon and certificate.
Book this class →Dog 2: Obedience
Building on the STAR Puppy class (or similar experience), this 6-week course introduces more distraction, distance, and duration to your dog's training.
We'll refine:
- Loose leash walking & heel
- Focus around other dogs
- Reliable recall and impulse control
- "Go to Bed" cue for calm behavior at home
Perfect for adolescent dogs needing more structure and social exposure.
Book this class →Dog 3: AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Prep
This advanced-level course prepares dogs for the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) evaluation over 6 weeks. We work on all 10 CGC test items, including:
- Calm greetings (people and dogs)
- Loose leash walking through crowds
- Manners when handled by a stranger (like a vet tech)
- Stay and recall at distance
- Supervised separation
This class prepares your dog for the official AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluation. Testing is offered at the end of class, and your first CGC test is included in the class price. Passing it is what earns your dog the official CGC title and ribbon.
Book this class →Dog 4: Public Access & Urban CGC
A step beyond CGC, this 7-week class prepares your dog for real-world public access. We train in active settings such as sidewalks, pet-friendly stores, outdoor cafes, and elevators and crosswalks.
This class supports:
- Confident pet manners in public
- Therapy dog and service dog in training teams
- AKC Community Canine (CGCA) and Urban CGC (CGCU) titles
Great for handlers ready to proof their dog's skills outside the classroom.

Do you use shock collars, prong collars, or corrections?
No. We train exclusively with positive, force-free methods: rewards, clear communication, and consistency. No pain, fear, or intimidation, ever.
What should I bring to class?
A well-fitted collar or harness, a standard (non-retractable) leash, and small, high-value treats. We'll help you dial in the right setup on day one if you're not sure.
My dog is nervous or reactive around other dogs. Can they still join a group class?
It depends on the dog. Reach out and tell us about your dog's specific triggers, or book a 30-minute training evaluation, and we'll help you figure out whether to start in group class, in private training, or a mix of both. We also work with our partner trainer Jessica on more involved reactivity cases, see Meet the Trainers.
Do you offer puppy classes?
Yes. Dog 1 is our puppy class. Puppies can start at 10 weeks old once they've had their booster shots, and we cover puppy basics like nipping, chewing, house training, and polite greetings. At the end of class your puppy can earn the AKC STAR Puppy certificate and ribbon, and the first test is included in the class price.
What ages and sizes of dogs can join?
All of our classes work with dogs of any age, from young puppies to seniors, and dogs of any size are welcome. The curriculum adapts to your dog's age and experience level, so an older dog who's new to training starts in Dog 1 too.
What's included in the price?
Your enrollment includes six or seven weeks (depending on the class) of hands-on training with professional guidance, positive reinforcement techniques, and practical exercises to help you and your dog succeed together. You'll also receive training resources, at-home practice activities, and support from your trainers throughout the course. Our goal is to give you the knowledge, tools, and confidence to continue building a strong, trusting relationship with your dog long after graduation!
What vaccinations does my dog need?
All dogs in group classes need to be current on rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Please send us proof of vaccination by the second week of class. Puppies can start Dog 1 at 10 weeks old once they've had their boosters.
What if we miss a class?
Life happens! If you know you'll miss a class, you can sit in with another class that same week if one is available. Otherwise, we'll catch you up before or after class at your next session. And if something comes up and you can't finish the course, you can move to another class session to finish or start over.
How do I sign up or check available dates?
